
Free Health Camp by RJ Shahi Foundation
On 29 June 2024, The RJ Shahi Foundation, with support from Fishtail Hospital and Research Center, Pokhara, and the Vyas-14 ward office, organized a free health camp in the underprivileged area of Keshavtar in Vyas Municipality, Tanahun.
A team of 20 doctors provided their services, including the following specialists:
Dr. Bhola Shrestha (Orthopedic Surgeon and Director of Fishtail Hospital)
Dr. Bishwo Baral (Cardiologist)
Dr. Dilip Ojha (Pediatrician)
Dr. Purnima Gurung (Gynecologist and Obstetrician)
They were joined by other medical officers from Pokhara and Kathmandu. The camp was efficiently managed with the assistance of base commandos Gauri Shankar Thapa and Fal Thapa. Gauri Shankar Thapa and Fal Thapa emerged as true heroes during the camping event. Their pivotal roles in assisting every members and patients were instrumental in making it a success.
Dr. Aliza Dulal, one of the trustees of the RJ Shahi Foundation, led the program, and Apar Poudel, another trustee, managed the event. The camp benefited 333 patients from Keshavtar and nearby villages such as Kulung, Theen, and Ramkot. Laboratory facilities were available for blood sugar and urine tests, resulting in 80 people testing positive for high blood sugar. These individuals, along with many others in need, received free medicines.
During the camp, cases such as osteoarthritis, pelvic inflammatory diseases, schizophrenia, seizure disorders, and many other commonly prevalent diseases were encountered. Some urgent cases and those needing procedural treatment were referred to the nearby hospital, while others were referred to Fishtail Hospital based on the patients’ preferences.
The event was graced by the presence of Vyas Municipality Mayor Baikuntha Neupane, who expressed his support and appreciation for the initiative.
This health camp is a small but significant attempt by the RJ Shahi Foundation to give back to the community and help the helpless. With a vision of establishing a hospital in Vyas within the next 5-10 years, this initiative marks the beginning of a dedicated journey towards better healthcare services for the region.
